Age Representation - Homework.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2558545/There-no-trolling-case-Coroner-says-wont-investigate-claims-Hannah-Smith-bullied-Ask-fm-tragic-teen-sent-messages-herself.html

This representation is a negative representation of young people in the media and has come from the Daily Mail. It relates to the suicide of Hannah Smith, a teenage girl who was being severly bullied. This news headlines now reads as Hannah was 'attention seeking' especially if she did send the messages herself. This gives people the view that all teenagers who are being bullied, may not actually be being bullied, it could just be them attention seeking, which in my opinion is wrong as not all teenagers do this, some have genuine problems and have issues such as depression, and want to commit suicide. Therefore it shows young people in a negative view. It uses simple sentences to get the point across, so that these facts sit in peoples heads.

This again is a negative view of young people in the media, as it shows them as being 'bitchy' and moaning about other people. Specifically girls in the media, as they are seen as being the bitchy ones.

The man featured in this article is 70 years old, and still offered to help clear a tree. This is a representation of an old person being helpful and strong, which is completely opposite to what the stereotypical view of old people is. They are seen as weak and being unable to do anything, whereas in this news story, he has given his life to try and clear a tree in order to help and allow people to carry on with their lives. Therefore I think that this is a positive representation of old people in the media.
