Orphan Black
1. The intended audience for Orphan Black is people aged between 16-35 because it's a fairly modern TV show, and it explores modern themes, such as human cloning and it also features graphic scenes, that would be inappropriate for younger viewers. Also, older viewers may not be interested as some of the things featured in the TV show. It also tends to be quite confusing, so this may also be unappealing to older/younger viewers. The TV shows after 9pm as well, so after the watershed, this shows that the show is inappropriate for younger viewers.
2. The programme meets many gratifications. The reason a person may watch this for personal identity, is that in the show, there are many characters, so people watching the show may relate to a specific character or something that the character is going through.
For entertainment, they may watch it to escape their current lifestyle, therefore living their life through someone else's eyes. They could also be watching this show as a release, whether it's emotional or otherwise, they can take on the characters emotions and live through their lives.
3. The programme is constructed from the point of view of Sarah, the main character. Therefore when watching it, the character takes it from her point of view, they are drawn into her life, and how she sees everything. Also, it takes things from days apart and cuts them down to fit into one 30 minute show. The filming takes place over a week maximum, but is then cut down to show only the important scenes that will make the audience care more for the characters.
