The representation of gender in this tv show is not of the stereotypical female figure. Therefore it gives a positive representation of females, as Buffy (the lead character) is strong willed, and powerful and therefore she is a positive role model for other females as she doesn't act like the stereotypical female. I've identified this as a majority of the characters in Buffy are female, lead characters. Also, it means that the show is suitable for both male and female viewers.
The values of the producer are that females should be represented differently and shown in a different way to what the norm is represented as. Joss Whedon (the producer) shows that females can be strong and be lead and not worry about things that women are shown to worry about, (how they look, what to wear, etc).
