Magazine Cover.

- Pink/white/orange are the main colours. Pink has connotations of being ‘girly’ so from this, the intended audience is women. Also pink is seen as a stereotypical girl colour, so the colours used will attract females, and catch their eye which will then entice them to read the magazine. Also these colours are bright against the white background, so this makes the colours stand out even more, which makes the cover even more eye catching to the audience.
The fonts uses as well, are simple and bold, which makes the magazine effective and the way that they have advertised certain puffs on the magazine, like with the number 7, they have it in quite a playful font which links with the cover story the 7 is related to.

- The are various enigma codes, for example, the cover line which states ‘the interview that will change your mind’; when an audience reads this they will want to read the actual article as part of them will want to know what it is or what’s in the interview that will make them change their mind. It gives the reader the impression that the magazine knows something that they don’t and this will then intrigue them to read the magazine and then have that information. This links with the main image, as there is obviously an idea about Miley and who is she, so people already have opinions on her, so it links with the image and how this magazine will change their opinion on her.

- The main image used is of Miley Cyrus, a young women who is quite popular and has had a lot of controversy surrounding her, but to some she is seen a strong young women, so an idol. The pose that she is in is a powerful type of pose, her hips are out slightly, arms are folded, this has connotations that she is asserting herself, this would make sense in a women’s magazine as women want to feel strong and be able to stand up for themselves. She is also looking slightly sexual, so showing that even though she’s powerful, she’s attractive as well. This also gives connotations that she is trying to lure in the audience with the way that she is giving direct eye contact with the camera.

- The mode of address for this magazine is friendly, and almost personal. The wording that they’ve used, for example they’ve used ‘phew’ as a sub cover line underneath the cover which gives the impression that as the reader is looking over the cover, they notice this things, and it’s almost like they are talking to a friend.

Young Paramedics.

Young Paramedics.

Age.
The representation of age in Young Paramedics is positive as they are showing 16 - 19 who are normally shown as being selfish and only caring about clubbing, mostly because of the age that they are. Whereas in this show they are represented as being caring, due to them being paramedics, and not caring about having a social life, which is uncommon for most teenagers between those ages. This appeals to people as viewers who are those ages or that want a career in that field may watch this to get ideas and to see what life would be like for them. It appeals to them personally.

Gender.
The beginning of the programme shows a man first and then skips through showing them male, female, male, etc. This could represent that the male holds the most power in the programme, therefore by using his image first it represents that he, as a male, is more important than the females in the programme.

Representation

Neighbours.

Gender.
Gender is represented in different ways in Neighbours. For example, Paul is seen to be the stereotypical bad guy, therefore this is showing men in a negative light. He is also mayor, therefore this gives the impression that he is obsessed with power, again linking with the idea that all men want is power and that they will do anything to get it. Therefore this represents men in a negative light. People watching will be able to see this as maybe they have personally experienced this, they may have a negative view on men and by Neighbours showing this, it supports their view of representation of men.
For a representation of women, there is a character called Georgia, who is pregnant and to look at, seems to be your stereotypical girly girl who cannot do a thing for herself. However the story lines that are around her, make her go against this stereotype. Due to her pregnancy, she is now trying to find a more secure lifestyle. This shows her going out on her own, showing that she doesn't need a man to be able to make her secure, which goes against the stereotype that all women need a man in their lives. It represents women in a positive light. There is also a character called Danni who has previously been in a abusive relationship, and now her boyfriend is trying to track her down. This is a again a negative representation of men, and a positive view of women as it shows Danni escaping and trying to do better with her life. This allows people to connect with the character as viewers of the show may have been through this themselves.

Ethnicity.
There aren't varied ethnicity's in neighbours. Most, if not all of the characters are white or caucasian. Therefore, there isn't much diversity in the show so this is a negative representation.

Age.
Neighbours is shown to target different age groups due to the fact that the characters are of all different ages. So throughout the show there is something for everyone, there is a character for everyone to relate to. They have a positive representation of 16-19 year olds, as there are characters named Mason and Imogen, who are a couple, but they are represented as mature adults as they are trying to prove that a crime that Mason supposedly did was faked and that it wasn't actually his fault. The shots used are transitioned into each other so that they are smoother to watch and allow the viewer to not be confused by the situation that is happening.

Issues.
Neighbours is a negative representation, this is because it shows issues that occur in every day life. These are things such as economic issues e.g - Georgia thinking that Kyle is unable to support her and their baby, so she is going to move back home with her parents so that they can support her and the baby. This may relate to viewers as they may have the same experience of be going through the same thing, therefore they can put themselves in the shoes of the character.

Ethnicity Representation Task

Sport
This headline relates to the recent outburst of racist behaviour that happened a week ago, it shows football fans in a negative way, as it shows that some of them aren't open to the fact that most football players today are mixed race, therefore they feel the need to express 'racist views'. By the chief saying that players should "grow up and accept" the abuse, it shows him in a negative way as he's basically telling them to lie down and take what is given to them, and to accept the abuse when honestly, this is a mistake as this sends out the message that you can pick on anyone simply for the colour of their skin.

This is a positive view of the media and sports, it's showing that even though Campbell-Brown has come under rumours of her taking a banned substance, she

Age Representation - Homework.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2558545/There-no-trolling-case-Coroner-says-wont-investigate-claims-Hannah-Smith-bullied-Ask-fm-tragic-teen-sent-messages-herself.html

This representation is a negative representation of young people in the media and has come from the Daily Mail. It relates to the suicide of Hannah Smith, a teenage girl who was being severly bullied. This news headlines now reads as Hannah was 'attention seeking' especially if she did send the messages herself. This gives people the view that all teenagers who are being bullied, may not actually be being bullied, it could just be them attention seeking, which in my opinion is wrong as not all teenagers do this, some have genuine problems and have issues such as depression, and want to commit suicide. Therefore it shows young people in a negative view. It uses simple sentences to get the point across, so that these facts sit in peoples heads.

 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2558716/Lorde-insists-shes-not-anti-new-interview-dissing-Taylor-Miley.html

This again is a negative view of young people in the media, as it shows them as being 'bitchy' and moaning about other people. Specifically girls in the media, as they are seen as being the bitchy ones.

 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2558449/Pictured-Market-gardener-killed-electrocuted-trying-clear-tree-brought-power-lines.html

The man featured in this article is 70 years old, and still offered to help clear a tree. This is a representation of an old person being helpful and strong, which is completely opposite to what the stereotypical view of old people is. They are seen as weak and being unable to do anything, whereas in this news story, he has given his life to try and clear a tree in order to help and allow people to carry on with their lives. Therefore I think that this is a positive representation of old people in the media.

Websites.

Topshop is a well known clothing store. The reading is preferred as the website caters for all types of people. For example, it has headings such as 'clothing', 'shoes', etc. Therefore it would come across as preferred as people would be able to find something for themselves. However, men would take an objective reading, as this website seems to be mainly for females, these would be their target audience. The website comes across as a direct mode of address, as its semi-formal with the wording, and the layout is done specifically to make it easier on the viewer to navigate the webpage.
MTV is a worldwide known name, and is used pretty much everyday by everyone who is part of the social media. The mode of address for this website is objective.
